About 50 GD shows prior to Aug 1995.

The loudest show I've ever attended was T-Rex and Ted Nugent in about 1978. Painful. I had to leave the venue.

I was a local stagehand for the Eagles' Long Run show in Knoxville and they were not nearly as loud as many other bands. Really pretty reasonable sound pressure levels. I still remember the name of their production company - Gopher Baroque.

I saw the Eagles at the LA Forum when they were supporting Hotel California. It was fricken painful. I remember thinking that the Dead sure could teach these dudes a lesson.

I know the Dead system had lower distortion. I wonder if that reduced the impression of loudness and pain. I am sure Dr. Monte would probably know all about this.

The Dead shows were always at enjoyable dB levels, especially the medium sized outdoor venues like Santa Fe Downs and Red Rocks. I can't remember a show that was too loud.

That single Eagles show was the only one of theirs I've seen. The reviews of the current Eagles tour (no inclination to see that...) all have reports of "too loud".
